Bharat NCAP Launches, Aims to Improve Car Safety in India
The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) was launched on August 22, 2023, by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The program is voluntary, but manufacturers are encouraged to get their cars tested.
Bharat NCAP will assign cars a star rating based on their performance in crash tests. The tests will be conducted at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) in Pune.
The star ratings will range from one star to five stars, with five stars being the best. Cars with a higher star rating will be safer in the event of a crash.
